Man Who Faked Death Receives 14 Year Jail Sentence
A man from Florida thought he was clever when he came up with a scheme involving insurance fraud while faking his death.
Sentenced with 14 years, the man plead guilty to numerous charges of which consisted of identity theft.
Originally using a trip to Venezuela for cover, he confessed to venturing over to the country in search of a forged death certificate. Originally, he had mentioned that he was travelling with his wife, to cure his recent infliction of mad cow disease.
It was after trying to request a passport with someone else’s identity in another state, that he was caught and arrested. His wife, and accomplice, was sentenced to 5 years probation.
